When people think of retreats, they often dream of coastal places. Portugal is off the beaten path, but has it all. Sometimes the best way to reconnect to yourself is to explore the unfamiliar and meet part of yourself that have been hidden.
Life can become a cycle of doing, planning, and keeping up. Before we realize it, we can lose touch with the things that make us feel most alive.
Retreats offer an opportunity to interrupt that pattern.
To wander, to see sights that inspire you, to share a meal without rushing. Every time we travel we are shown a life that we didn’t know existed. A piece of ourselves unacquainted, becomes adorned, expressed through our experience of presence to the world.
Portugal offers a beautiful opportunity to reset. The traditional European slow pace of life, the charming fishing villages, historic towns, forested landscapes and dramatic coastline.
It’s not only the where you go, but it’s how you experience it.
This experience is a reminder that you don't always need to be productive to feel fulfilled.
Through intentionally planned and curated itineraries, you get to start your mornings with mindful practices, movement that will support your day’s itinerary and an open mindset to experience it.
Imagine beginning your trip like that every day. Where you are guided and supported from the moment you step out of your bed. You mosey to the yoga shala, enjoy a yoga class, meditation, and journaling, then are gifted a gourmet farm-to-table breakfast surrounded by like-minded people. You don’t rush from one thing to the next, you are given time, and the security in knowing that it is all mapped out perfectly. You just simply have to be present and arrive.
You get to have your curiosity fulfilled in learning through hands on experiences, like the tile painting workshop, and the farming experience.
You get to receive and give back.
You get to put down all the doing, and just flow.
During our time in Portugal, we'll experience the buzz of Lisbon, the peaceful forest setting of Mafra and the beauty of the nearby Atlantic coast.
We'll explore Ericeira, a traditional fishing village known for its surf culture, and visit Cabo da Roca, where dramatic cliffs meet the vast Atlantic Ocean. There will be opportunities to explore, take in the scenery, and enjoy moments that don't require anything from you other than being there.
Nature reminds us that life moves in seasons. There is a time for growth and movement, and a time for rest and reflection. We don't have to force every part of our journey.
We can learn to move with our own natural rhythm.
A soulful reset isn't just about stepping away from everyday life. It's also about opening yourself to new perspectives.
Portugal invites us to look beyond the familiar and connect with the stories, traditions, and people who make a place unique.
From exploring Lisbon's historic neighborhoods and ancient landmarks to wandering through the fairytale-like streets of Sintra, we'll discover the layers of history and culture that make Portugal so special.
Sometimes, you don't need a complete life overhaul. You need a new experience that helps you see your life with fresh eyes.
A conversation with someone new. A place that surprises you. A moment of stillness that brings clarity. An adventure that reminds you, you're capable of more than you thought.
This is what we hope you'll find in Portugal.
Our retreat is designed to balance exploration with restoration. We'll visit remarkable places, learn about Portuguese culture, spend time in nature, and share experiences with a small group of like-minded travelers. We'll also return to the peaceful setting of Shanti Space, where there is room to practice, unwind, reflect, and simply be.
It's about making space for the person you are becoming — and reconnecting with the vibrant, adventurous spirit that may have gotten a little quiet beneath the demands of everyday life.
